Participation Guidelines
To ensure a positive and productive experience for all, we have established the following guidelines for participation in our athletics programs:
- Weekly grade checks: Grades will be reviewed weekly. Eligibility is based on the quarter's cumulative grade point average. Students who are ineligible on the check day will remain until the next eligibility day, Monday morning of each week.
- Academic requirements: Students must maintain a passing grade of 75% or better in all classes to participate in activities.
- Behavioral standards: In-school or out-of-school suspension will render a student ineligible to participate in events on the day of the suspension.
- Saturday events: Students ineligible on Monday will not be allowed to participate in events the following Saturday.
- Attendance: Any unexcused absence from school on the day of an event will prohibit the student from participating in that activity.
- Practice hours: Practice sessions, including those for cheerleaders, are not allowed during class hours.
- Substance use: State rules on tobacco use, drinking and drug use are strictly enforced.
- Event setup: Setting up for athletic events during class hours must be cleared through the physical education department.
- Detention priority: After-school detention takes precedence over games, activities, and scheduled practices.
- Practice requirements: The North Dakota High School Activities Association requires students to complete nine practices before participating in any athletic event.
- Additional regulations: These guidelines complement the rules and regulations set by the NDHSAA, including the requirement for sports physicals.
- Scope of guidelines: The above guidelines apply to all extracurricular activities developed by the school.
We are dedicated to fostering a fair, positive, and encouraging environment for all student-athletes. Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping our students excel both on and off the field.
